Great Videoing Tips

When you're filming A Virtual Christmas  it can be easy to feel like your video is not great. But here are some tips to share with your cast that will help you version of A Virtual Christmas to be visually beautiful.

When you are filming A Virtual Christmas, don't feel like you have to use fancy equipment. If you have a nice camera, feel free to use it for your scenes. But if all you have is a cell phone, that will work just fine. Remember the show is about kids stuck in their home who are filming themselves. So if the video quality isn't great, or one video is very shaky, remember the characters aren't professionals. The videos don't have to be perfect!

When you are filming, make sure to hold the phone at a horizontal angle. This will completely fill the screen whereas if you hold the phone vertically it will leave large black bars along the sides of the viewer's screen. This improves the look of the show greatly.

When you are playing the music for the actors to sing along with, make sure to use the performance tracks. Also make sure your cast are wearing ear buds with the music, so that you can dub the music in later for a much better audio quality. When you are filming make sure there is good lighting. This can be as simple as bringing in a lamp - just make sure the video is not too dark or it will be grainy. Also make sure the actor is not washed out with too much light. It is a delicate balance between too light and too dark. Don't forget - this is still kids stuck at home, so it doesn't have to be perfect.
